Prioritize the vehicle manual: Design standards vary among different brands and models. The torque values specified in the manufacturer’s service manual are the most accurate reference, especially given the significant differences in torque requirements between heavy-duty vehicles and passenger cars.
Material Influence on Torque: U-bolts made of stainless steel have lower strength than those made of alloy steel of the same specification. Therefore, the tightening torque should be reduced by 10% to 15% to prevent thread stripping or breakage.
When used with anti-loosening components: If you use a spring washer or anti-loosening adhesive when tightening, there’s no need to increase the torque further. If the component is installed in a location subject to frequent vibrations, follow the manual’s instructions and adopt a “step-by-step tightening” method.
Check the tightening condition: After tightening, ensure that the screw is free of deformation, the threads are undamaged, and the secured components show no displacement or gaps.
