U-bolts are core fasteners in the power industry.
Suspension clamp fastening: XGU/CGU suspension clamps, secured with U-bolts, are used to clamp steel-cored aluminum stranded conductors of medium and small cross-sections. In conjunction with saddle plates and insulator strings, these clamps bear the weight of the conductor as well as wind-induced lateral loads. They are suitable for 10kV–220kV transmission lines and require the application of aluminum wrapping tape to prevent damage to the conductor.

Basic Definition and Structure of U-Shape Screws
Shape: Made by bending round steel into a U-shape, with fully threaded ends. Used in conjunction with matching nuts and saddle plates/pressure plates; the U-shaped section wraps around the pipe or cylindrical component, while the saddle plate presses down on top. Tightening the nut secures the assembly—a fastening method commonly referred to as “riding a horse.”

Maintenance and Replacement of Automotive U-Bolts
During routine car maintenance, it’s necessary to check the tightness of the U-bolts to ensure they are neither loose nor damaged.

Key considerations for automotive U-bolts
Material Influence on Torque: U-bolts made of stainless steel have lower strength than those made of alloy steel of the same specification. Therefore, the tightening torque should be reduced by 10% to 15% to prevent thread stripping or breakage.
